Speed is utmost important while working on computer systems. Be it the case of a web browser or a mobile application, high speed technology is in demand. If the system gets hanged, it causes annoyance to the users. A slow operating system can further reduce performance of the system. New Windows keep on getting developed with advanced features and improved performance. Windows 8 is also such a new version of Windows that has fast speed and better features as compared to the older versions. But there are some of the things for keeping Windows 8 at its full speed you may not be aware of.
Install New Window
Though Windows 8 is fast in performance but there may be a time when it starts performing slow if it runs for longer period of time. Installing a completely new Windows would be better. One can take the backup and install the Windows afresh. Up gradation of Windows may not work and the system may perform better with the newly installed Windows.
Installing new Windows updates would be beneficial for the system performance. This also helps in patching vulnerabilities. Installing new updates would increase the productivity and resolve the drawbacks. A number of advanced features can be made available by installing updates. Updating always helps the Windows to perform better than before and hence one should keep a habit of installing latest updates.
Up gradation to Solid State Drive
Up gradation to solid state drive, also known as SSD, can help in improving the system performance. These drives are much faster and consume less power as compared to other drives. Also, it is suggested that hard drives should be less occupied to improve system performance.
Keep the Computer Clean
It is important to keep the computer system clean and to sweep the dust spread over it from time to time. If this is not done, it may affect the performance of the system. People are usually seen to be careless about the dust around the computer, especially the CPU. They even use it for keeping books and using it as a dining table by having tea and snacks around it. This dust can cause overheating and leads to improper circulation. This then affects the performance of computer.
Uninstall the Unused Applications
One should uninstall the applications that are not in use. These unused applications or software are occupying the RAM space which affects the system performance. Keeping the system up to date and deleting or installing the software and applications that are not at all required can be helpful for speeding up the system. Moreover, one can install new applications that have advanced features.
Up gradation of RAM
Up grading the RAM (Random Access Memory) of your system would be helpful in improving the performance of Windows 8 and the system. One can check whether the computer has the capacity to upgrade the memory. If it cannot be done, one can replace the memory sticks with new ones that have better capacity.
Shutting down is Not Recommended
One should not shut down the system frequently. It is better to keep it in sleeping mode. While keeping the system in sleep mode, one can save power and at the same time one can resume the work one has left before leaving the system. Another method is to keep the system in hibernate state which is similar to shutting down but not exactly the same.
ReadyBoost was one of the features available in Windows 7 that are helpful for improving the performance of the system. To use this feature in Windows 8, one can either use a USB flash drive or take an SD card having the same RAM in the system. This would help in improving the performance of the system.
Keep the Peripherals Minimum
Peripherals like USB pen drive, CD Drive etc. attached to the computer can slow down its performance. Thus it is suggested to keep the peripherals as minimum as possible. The reason is that when the peripherals are opened up in the system, system takes time to respond while we start using a program.
Defragmentation is nothing but optimizing the drives by recognizing all bits of the drive. In Windows 8, optimization of drives is scheduled on a weekly basis but one can schedule it on daily or monthly basis as well. This leads to faster access to data. One can do this by selecting the optimize option in the properties tab by right clicking the hard drive.
