This high end phablet will be launched as a part of Micromax’s Canvas series sometime in the month of February. We take a look at the special features and key specifications of this phone ahead of its launch.
The A116 Canvas HD has the similar candybar looks of the A110 Canvas 2. With dimensions of 144 x 74 x 10.7 mm, this phone is super slim and sleek. Most of the front has the display with three touch keys at the bottom for the standard Options list, Home and Back. On the top it has the audio jack, the power button is on the top right hand corner and the volume control on the left hand corner. The phone comes in Black and White colours on the back panel and the standard black colour for the front face.
The phone has a 5 inch HD IPS touch screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels with a display density of 294ppi. The display features are quite impressive and at par with phablets of other companies selling in the market. The picture quality looks quite impressive, it might turn out to have a great screen for watching movies and playing video games.
The A116 Canvas HD is built in with the Android 4.1 JellyBean operating system. The 4.2 JellyBean has released in the market but we do not know if the phone comes with upgradation option. However, the 4.1 JellyBean is also quite new and is packed with great features and most of the new phablets being launched around this period are coming with this version of the operating system. The JellyBean systems have Android’s latest feature Project Butter, which helps deliver a smooth user interface, Google Now, a better camera interface .etc.
Processor & RAM:
The Micromax A116 Canvas HD is touted to be the first quad core processor phone by Micromax. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core MediaTek Processor along with 1GB of RAM. The phone will have excellent computing speed making it a great gaming phone. Internet surfing will also be quite a smooth experience.
The A116 Canvas HD is a dual sim phablet. It offers connectivity options for 4G and 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Beside this it also has GPRS/ EDGE, WLAN, USB port.
The A116 Canvas HD has an 8MP sensor with LED flash giving a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and additional features such as autofocus, geo tagging, touch focus and face detection. The sensors will support accelerometer and a proximity sensor. It also supports video recording up to 1080p. The front camera is a not very impressive 0.3MP VGA which can be used for making video calls only.
Memory and Battery:
The Micromax A116 Canvas HD comes with 4GB inbuilt memory which is expandable up to 32GB via Micro SD card. This is not much when compared with the memory capabilities available in phablets by competitors. The battery is a Li-Ion 2100mAh which gives standard phablet talk time which cannot be expected to be much considering all the features it has been packed with.
At the price it is being offered, Micromax has brought quite a formidable competition in the market with the Micromax A116 Canvas HD. This is the first Micromax phone that is coming with a price tag of over Rs. 10,000 and it would be interesting to observe the public response. Micromax is famous for budget phones aimed at the masses, a success in this shift will mean newer avenues for the company.
